To give an update to our donors, supporters and friends, we share the following report from our frontliners.
Despite pandemic challenges, NACSEARelief conducted relief initiatives to help affected communities of Typhoon Rolly “Goni” in the Bicol region. Assessments were made during the visit to check on the damage to affected residents. A lot of work is required for rebuilding, in the short term, housing materials are most needed.
The team responded with House Relief Assistance consisting of lumber, nails, and roofing materials to repair damaged homes. Total of 65-families were the beneficiaries in 19-barangays of Camarines Sur and Albay located in Carangcang, Carolina, Camuning, Binaliw, Manguiring, Bigaas, Sibobo, Shiembre, Binanuanan, Tawang, Olag, Tabgon, Tigman and Sinuknipan in Basagan, Bantayan, Magapo, Sobloyon , and Tabaco.
The typhoon was so strong that it not only smashed houses made of light materials but also those that were built with concrete. Bigger houses take in evacuees and even the smaller ones made of concrete opened their doors to their neighbors. It was truly the Filipino bayanihan spirit that moves the people to heroic action for the collective good.
