So are the present headlines. Following the powerful M7.8 earthquake, LGU’s, Philippine Red Cross have responded. Also NACSEARelief field teams are on the ground delivering critical emergency aid to affected communities. Immediate relief has reached the families of El Alis in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.
Through an emergency allocation, our team successfully procured and distributed 5kg packs of rice to 30 families in urgent need. The community expressed profound gratitude for this immediate lifeline in the wake of the disaster. Not much yet but a beginning.
Many areas are still difficult to reach even communication is close to impossible.
Our work is far from over. The team has conducted initial damage assessments of homes in the area. Many families are facing severe structural damage and are hopeful for the next phase of assistance: securing construction materials to safely rebuild their homes. First to gather information to finalize our housing rehabilitation plan. Together, through faith and community action (Bayanihan), we will help El Alis and other communities rise again.
