Distribution and Utilization of Organic Fertilizers in South Cotabato
Through the generous support of NAK karitativ, organic fertilizers were distributed to farmer-beneficiaries in South Cotabato to strengthen agricultural productivity and promote sustainable farming practices. The assistance primarily aimed to support corn production; however, beneficiaries also maximized the use of the organic fertilizers for other crops cultivated in their farms and household gardens.
Farmer-beneficiaries reported positive results in crop growth, plant health, and harvest yield following the application of the organic fertilizers. In addition to corn, the fertilizers were successfully applied to tomatoes, green chili peppers, bananas, and various vegetable crops. Farmers observed improved soil condition and healthier plant development, contributing to better-quality produce and increased harvest output.
The intervention also helped reduce farming expenses by minimizing dependence on commercial chemical fertilizers. Several households benefited from enhanced food availability for family consumption, while others generated supplemental income through the sale of surplus vegetables and produce in local markets.
Moreover, the initiative encouraged crop diversification and reinforced sustainable agricultural practices among farming communities. The timely donor assistance contributed significantly to strengthening the resilience and livelihood capacity of beneficiary households in South Cotabato.
The farmers expressed sincere gratitude to NAK karitativ and partner organization, NACSEA Relief for the continued support in improving agricultural productivity, food security, and community well-being.
