Fishing boats and gears were damaged or lost – leaving fishing communities with little to no livelihood or food sources due Typhoon Odette. According to survivors, most donations they receive are food, water, clothing, and shelter materials. These are good short solutions, yet NACSEA Relief endeavored a long-term and more sustainable impact to help fishermen restart and recover. After all fisherman bring food also to our tables.
New marine engines and cash assistance were provided to repair fishing boats, helping fishermen to rebuild their lives as they go back to the only source of livelihood they know – fishing.
Beneficiaries were all very pleased and grateful as they can soon get back to normal life and resume livelihood activities. (report from on site by Mabelle Bagtas)
