The annual meeting of the board of trustees  was held in Dumaguete/Negros Oriental on 11th February 2023 and hosted by board member Siegfried Catan.
 
Corp. Secretary Mabelle Bagtas presented the activity report 2022. The President re-iterated in his address that Philippines ranks among the firsts worldwide in natural disaster risks. Also 2022 was dominated by relief and rehabilitation actions. Typhoon Odette was the strongest since Yolanda 10 years ago. Again we could count on the support of our Swiss and German Partners: Humanitas, nak-karitativ and Humanaktiv besides numerous  private donors.
 
After school closures during covid our student support program is more important than ever before. Thanks to Germany based UNFRIED Stiftung we could maintain to support 100 students.
 
Traditionally the annual meeting was attended by the Apostles Council. NACSEARelief is thankful for the support by  the pastoral network of the New Apostolic Church Philippines.
 

 

The days after the meeting were used to travel through Negros to make a random check on sustainability of past projects. Pleased to note that the classrooms in Bugtong Kahoy are fully utilized now by 170 students from elementary to high school. A very dedicated faculty met the delegation.
 
 
Also happy to note that there is full recovery from the aftermath of Odette. Communities are  lively as ever and local economies vibrant. Yet of course  due to the vast extension of damage, from as far as Surigao to Palawan our help besides first response food packs  was limited to provide material for  repairing of houses. Building better homes which will survive next onslaught by storms is still far beyond our means. All people we met express genuine thankfulness. Their smile is our reward.
